The art of writing a compelling sales copy is something you need to master if your eBook is to sell. A poor sales copy could mean a low conversion rate of less than 1% or even below 0.5%. That means if you attract 1000 potential customers to your site, you could make just 5 sales or worse! Ideally, you would like to write a sales letter which converts at around 2%. If you reach
that 2% conversion rate, don’t stop there. Continually tweak your copy until you can no longer improve it.
Just as we did with writing the eBook, here is a step-by-step, hold your hand guide to writing a compelling sales letter. In just 18 steps you will have created a sales letter that sells!
1) Use a Powerful Headline – Express your strongest sales point or the main benefit of your product. Ask your reader a question and grab their attention. You normally get around 10 seconds to grab your readers attention, if you’re heading isn’t up to scratch, they’ll turn away
immediately.
2) Build excitement with your sub-headline – In just a few sentences, expand upon the main benefits of your product and explain exactly what it can do for your reader if they take action.
3) State the MAIN benefits of your product – Outline the three major benefits and the three main reasons for why the customer should buy you’re product. Think about the needs and wants of your customer.
4) Explain your Unique Selling Proposition (USP) – A USP is a single, unique benefit that makes your product different from your competitors.
You can determine your USP by recognizing the one thing that you offer that no one else does. These can be:-
· Best Price
· Highest Quality
· Best Service
· Reliability?
· Authority – Do you have expert knowledge in your particular niche?
5) Gain the readers’ trust – The most important thing you must persuade your readers to do is to trust you. If they trust you, they are more likely to part with their money and purchase your product. You can obtain their trust by not making wild claims like many other online marketers. Give your reader three reasons (or as many as you can think of) for why they should trust you.
6) Explain the benefits of your product – Discuss why the reader should buy your product. What will it do for them? Will it make them money? Will it improve their quality of life? Include as many details as you can.
7) Explain all of the features of your product – Discuss, in as much detail as you wish every single feature of your product. Write as many as you can and write until you can definitely not think of more.
8) Include testimonials – Here you should include a variety of testimonial from past customers or, if you are releasing this product for the first time, ask a few recognized experts in your niche to provide you with one in exchange for your product. Your testimonials will establish credibility and trust.
9) Compare your product to the competition – Explain to the reader how your product is superior to similar ones. Do not mention the name of the other products as this will reduce your credibility substantially. You can refer back to your USP here. Mention why your product is better, is your price cheaper? Does your product have more features?
10) Provide a summary of everything your customer will receive – Ensure that your reader is fully clear on all of the features of the product.
11) State your price – Here you explain to your reader the price of your product. Build it up. Ask a rhetorical question.
“How much would you expect to pay for this unique product with all of its integrated features and added bonuses? $100? $150? $200? Not today!
For today only, I’m practically giving it away! For just $47 you can have immediate access to this highly sought after information to help make your dreams become a reality PLUS all of the added bonuses ABSOLUTLEY FREE! But only if you act today. Why delay when you can start profiting immediately?
Grab your copy immediately!”
12) Offer a guarantee – A guarantee is the strongest way in which you can instil confidence in your readers. If you offer a full money back guarantee, you are virtually saying that you have faith in your products quality and that there will be no need for you to refund your customers.
13) Include order instructions – Explain to your reader how to order. Mention how easy and simple it is and that they can have immediate access to your product.
14) Close with a PS – In your PS include your main feature or benefit of your product.
PS – Please remember that this product is in HUGE DEMAND and could sell
out at any time. If you decide against buying today, then there is no guarantee this offer will still be available tomorrow.
These are the basic steps to creating a highly profitable sales letter that will convert readers like crazy. Remember that learning by doing is the most effective way of learning. Practice writing sales letters, see what works for you, what doesn’t work. Every niche is different, some niches may like long, complex sales letters, and some might like short simple ones. The main rule however is tweak, tweak, tweak, tweak and tweak again. The slightest change in one colour may lead to a doubling in sales; one word change may lead to a doubling in sales any little change could be the difference between 100 sales and 1000 sales.
